Summary

The Pride's encounter with the human has rippled through the trading lanes; Pyanfar's actions have made her both target and pivot of new alignments. When trade routes are disrupted by an expanding shadow of suspicion, Pyanfar must take a bolder course: mount a venture that will test her ship, crew and instincts. The human, still an enigma, becomes a catalyst for unexpected alliances as the Pride navigates treacherous ports, clever rivals, and a web of political aspirations among the alien races. Personal bonds are strained as Pyanfar juggles commerce and conscience. She faces the consequences of exposing the human's existence to others, and the crew must reconcile prideful traditions with pragmatic survival. Each negotiation becomes a gamble; each skirmish reveals layers of motive and fear. Through cunning strategy and fierce loyalty, Pyanfar drives the Pride into unfamiliar territory where courage and sacrifice will determine who survives and who will prosper in the changing balance of power.
