Summary
When a genetically engineered soldier is created from the stolen DNA of a dead man, the Ghost Brigades awaken into a world that suspects them and needs them in equal measure. Jared Dirac, the first of a new breed, must grapple with identity, memory, and purpose as he discovers he is both a weapon and a person shaped by the fragments of another life. The Brigades are specialized, ruthless forces whose members must confront what it means to be alive when their minds are assembled to serve. As Jared and his unit investigate a conspiracy that threatens the safety of colonies and the integrity of the CDF, loyalties are strained and secrets surface. The campaign that follows is brutal and intimate: battlefield tactics intersect with questions of conscience, and the Ghost Brigades learn that surviving the war requires more than engineered armor. This is a story of creation and responsibility, where a new soldier's search for self becomes the fulcrum for interstellar consequences.
